About The Position

The Equipment Operator supports vegetation management operations by preparing and operating equipment under the Foreperson’s direction, maintaining tools and equipment, assisting crew members, and completing required reporting. The position also supports storm work as needed and is expected to maintain strong customer relations and follow safe work practices. It is safety-sensitive and requires the ability to pass a background check and drug screen as required for the job. Employees must meet I-9 work authorization requirements; the employer participates in E-Verify.

Requirements

• Two years of experience in vegetation management.
• Experience with safe operation and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Knowledge of daily maintenance and safe operation of all equipment used.
• Ability to hear verbal instructions from a distance.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this safety-sensitive position.
• Must meet I-9 work authorization requirements.

Responsibilities

• Follow and help enforce safe practices and rules.
• Assist in preparing equipment and materials for each day’s work at the Foreperson’s direction.
• Operate equipment as directed by the Foreperson.
• Help maintain and repair equipment and tools used in operations.
• Assist crew members in daily activities and take a leadership role when required.
• Clean up and dispose of debris.
• Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, and other protections for employees and the public.
• Stay informed about new equipment, specifications, standard practices, operating procedures, and customer and company employee relations policies and practices.
• Track and report mileage to the Foreperson.
• Perform storm work as needed.
• Use the AMS system for daily reporting, including timesheets and billing information.
• Maintain above-standard customer relations.
• Report accidents.
