About The Position

Lautenbach Recycling is hiring a reliable, safety-focused Equipment Operator with strong excavator experience for its Mount Vernon Recycling Facility. The role supports safe material flow and smooth daily operations in a busy industrial environment, with an emphasis on preventing equipment damage and maintaining equipment longevity. The primary machine is an excavator, with loaders and forklifts used as needed. The position is on-site and full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Requirements

Proven excavator operating experience that is precise, controlled, and safety-oriented.
Understanding of machine limits, safe handling methods, and damage-prevention practices.
Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting ability.
Dependable, self-motivated, with strong communication skills.
Team-first mindset and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions.
Comfort working around dust, noise, heavy traffic, and industrial equipment.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred.

Responsibilities

Safely operate excavators as the primary machine and loaders and forklifts as needed.
Handle materials precisely to prevent equipment damage, unnecessary wear, and facility impact.
Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
Load, unload, sort, and stage recyclable materials throughout the yard.
Review incoming loads and ensure accurate, safe placement.
Prepare materials for transport or processing.
Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas.
Communicate with spotters, drivers, and team members to coordinate safe movements.
Identify opportunities to improve workflow, reduce downtime, and extend equipment longevity.
