About The Position
The Equipment Operator safely and effectively operates heavy equipment to load, offload, or transport landscape supplies, including mulch, topsoil, soil amendments, and raw materials. The role requires maintaining situational awareness and operating with proficiency to minimize the risk of personal injury or property damage. The operator cleans and maintains equipment, informs branch leadership about maintenance or repair needs, and assists with other assigned work, which may include receiving materials, inventory, order processing and fulfillment, and general labor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Able to frequently lift 50 pounds or more.
- Capable of working in extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, snow, and rain.
- Able to read and write to record daily logs and maintain daily equipment checklists.
- Knowledge of proper safety and maintenance protocols for the equipment used.
Nice To Haves
- Experience operating front-end loaders, skid steers, track loaders, articulating loaders, rubber tire wheel loaders, and/or excavators is strongly preferred.
- Experience in the landscape, hardscape, forestry, nursery, or irrigation industry.
Responsibilities
- Safely and proficiently operate assigned equipment, including front-end loaders, skid steers, track loaders, articulating loaders, rubber tire wheel loaders, and excavators, following company policies, procedures, and directives.
- Clean and maintain equipment as scheduled or required.
- Advise branch leadership of equipment maintenance or repair requirements.
- Assist with other management-assigned duties, such as receiving materials, inventory, order processing and fulfillment, and general labor.
