Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years’ experience required in a similar role in the warehouse environment.
  • Required experience in operating a Forklift and/or pallet jack (active certification is a plus).
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and written.
  • Ability to sufficiently read and comprehend freight instructions.
  • Possess basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to safely operate pallet jack.
  • Ability to safely operate a yard jockey (tractor).
  • Excellent attendance required; must be able to work on a regular and predictable basis or as scheduled due to changes in the business needs and/or during peak season.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with variable noise levels, lighting conditions.
  • Ability to stand on your feet frequently for long periods of time and walk the fulfillment center and around area (10–12-hour shifts may be needed per the business needs).
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with variable noise levels, lighting conditions and temperature variation.
  • Clean driving record required.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on a continual basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Active certification for Forklift and/or pallet jack is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with overall warehouse operations including but not limited to transporting, loading, unloading, and stacking products to/from pallets, floors, or racks.
  • Assist with inspecting containers, managing equipment, and ensuring the safe and smooth maneuvering of all trailers.
  • Operate equipment, including managing the physical and mechanical condition of the equipment through daily and weekly inspections and providing basic maintenance.
  • Load, unload, and stack merchandise onto or from pallets, floor, or racks primarily utilizing Material Handling Equipment, but can also require manual movement as needed.
  • Separate merchandise for shipment to warehouse location or according to management’s instructions.
  • Maintain integrity of products through proper handling.
  • Affix appropriate labels to pallet or carton.
  • Apply shrink-wrap to pallets of merchandise.
  • Transport merchandise to storage locations from receiving.
  • Pick products as needed.
  • Relocate the product to additional locations as needed.
  • Transport merchandise directly to shipping as needed.
  • Use a scanner to process merchandise for accurate inventory and location tracking.
  • Follow company policies and procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Organize tractor trailers within space and to ensure trucks and trailers are ready for unloading, loading, and transport.
  • Perform the weekly and daily inspection of the equipment assigned for the week by following the check list provided.
  • Perform the basic maintenance of the equipment.
  • Move containers to and from the warehouse doors/docks and the parking spots at the yard or in the warehouses.
  • Open and close the container doors when at the docks.
  • Support the reach stacker operator on chassis swap for over the road dispatches.
  • Make the necessary movements of equipment within the yard/warehouses as instructed by Supervisors (or Manager) to organize the facility.
  • Plug and unplug containers from their parking spot when necessary.
  • Keep track of the movements performed with the equipment.
  • Keep track of fuel requirements of the equipment.
  • Comply with any additional task assigned by the Operation Superintendent and/or Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
