About The Position

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Anchorage International Airport, is seeking an Equipment Operator Journey 2 to operate all heavy equipment associated with the construction and maintenance of the Anchorage International Airport (ANC). This includes equipment such as motor graders, loaders, dump trucks, airport snow removal machines, roller compactors, sand spreaders, backhoes, and tractor-trailer combinations. The role involves operating equipment on the airfield and airport property, requiring safe and efficient operation in a dynamic environment, especially during snow/ice events. Communication via company and air-to-ground radios is essential. Daily duties include snow removal from various surfaces, equipment cleaning, emergency concrete and asphalt repair, brush and tree removal, and other labor-intensive tasks. As part of the Airfield Maintenance (AFM) crew, the candidate will operate and maintain airports and roadways in all conditions, including plowing snow, maintaining roadways, repairing asphalt, conducting security inspections, maintaining lighting systems, and clearing vegetation. The mission at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport is to spearhead the development, operation, and maintenance of the airport, serving Anchorage, Alaska, and the global community. The airport is recognized with numerous awards and functions seamlessly to ensure safety and efficiency. It accommodates a diverse range of aircraft and manages state-of-the-art airfield lighting systems. Anchorage International Airport is the largest airport in Alaska and the fourth busiest cargo airport worldwide. The Airfield Maintenance Station has a workforce of 110 staff members who collaborate to uphold regulatory certifications and compliance standards for this pivotal FAR Part 139 and TSA 1542 designated airport, which includes the world's busiest seaplane base.

Requirements

  • Must be an ALASKA RESIDENT.
  • Must be eligible for an airport identification badge in accordance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations (49 CFR 1542), which requires fingerprinting and a criminal background check.
  • Must pass a fingerprint-based criminal history record check and a comprehensive background investigation, along with a Transportation Security Administration Security Threat Assessment.
  • Must possess a Class A Alaska Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) at time of hire.
  • Must register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse prior to performing safety sensitive duties.
  • Must provide consent to the Employer to review driver information in accordance with 49 CFR 382.
  • Must obtain an N-Tanker endorsement within 120 days of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.
  • Must comply with the DOT&PF Drug and Alcohol Policy and procedures.
  • Must pass the required Pre-Employment drug test.
  • Must fill in the Education section of the application to verify education is being used to meet and/or support the required minimum qualifications/competencies.
