About The Position

Responsible for the rig up and rig down of water transfer equipment. Monitors and troubleshoots various types of equipment including High-Rate Transfer pumps, Poly pumps, Aluminum transfer pipe, and coiled polyline. Inspects trucks and trailers to ensure safe and reliable operating conditions. Loads and unloads equipment according to prescribed procedures. Assures adherence to safe work practices and documents work progress and issues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum of two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic math skills required.
  • Must be team oriented and capable of working with others under difficult conditions.
  • Meet minimum physical requirements.
  • Commercial Driver License Class A.
  • Hazardous Endorsement and Tank Vehicle Endorsement.
  • Valid DOT medical examiner's certificate.
  • Motor vehicle record (MVR) reflecting no convictions for recurring or serious violations or accidents.

Responsibilities

  • Understands and performs duties for rig up crew, poly line crew, and pumper.
  • Promotes quality improvement processes.
  • Helps train other employees on new job tasks.
  • Operates and maintains assigned equipment.
  • Performs daily inspections to ensure compliance with operational and safety requirements.
  • Reports all operational deficiencies to supervisor and maintenance personnel.
  • Assists in cleanup and repair.
  • Prepares equipment for the next job.
  • Performs pre-trip, roadside and post-trip truck and trailer inspections in accordance with federal and state laws, following standard company procedures.
  • Secures vehicle to prevent unexpected movement.
  • Reviews last inspection report and verifies completion of required maintenance and repairs.
  • Secures loose items in cab, documents inspection and advises Truck Pusher of necessary maintenance or repairs.
  • Loads and unloads backhoe and skid steer following standard company procedures.
  • Dons personal protective equipment and verifies equipment identification.
  • Positions and secures ramps to enable loading and unloading mobile equipment.
  • Secures loads to prevent movement in transit.
  • Drives truck or tractor-trailer combination on paved and unpaved roads.
  • Applies acceleration, steering and braking techniques to compensate for load characteristics and variable surface traction.
  • Observes applicable traffic ordinances and company policies.
  • Maintains U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) hours-of-service logbook and inspection records current and readily available for inspection by law enforcement personnel.
