About The Position

This position focuses on safely operating vehicles and equipment that facilitate patient transportation, grounds upkeep, and daily maintenance needs at Danville State Hospital. It plays an important role in keeping workflows smooth and ensuring equipment is ready for use at all times. As an Equipment Operator B, you will perform the following duties: Vehicle Operation: Drive lightweight and medium weight trucks to support maintenance and seasonal needs. Transportation Support: Operate cars, vans, and pickup trucks to provide patient and staff transportation. Bus Operation: Drive medium weight buses to support transportation on and off hospital grounds. Material Handling: Deliver items and move equipment by loading and unloading as required. Grounds Equipment Use: Operate tractors, loaders, mowers, and other tools to support grounds care. Equipment Maintenance: Follow preventive schedules and assist mechanics to keep vehicles and tools operational.

Requirements

  • One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more
  • Any equivalent combination of experience or training
  • Possess a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license
  • Possess a Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) and air brake endorsement
  • Obtain a passenger endorsement within six months of employment
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
  • Able to perform essential job functions
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance
