About The Position

The Equipment Operator 1 performs unskilled and semi-skilled tasks supporting the repair and maintenance of Hamilton County water and sewer line systems and their components, including waterlines, valves, hydrants, mains, and related equipment. The role operates motorized equipment and vehicles, assists with installation and repair work, documents completed work and materials, and restores streets and other areas to their original condition after projects.

Requirements

• Training and/or work experience in maintenance of water and sewer lines, hydrants, mains, and related components.
• Training and/or work experience operating jackhammers, chain cutters, and similar equipment, and in maintenance practices.
• Must obtain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License within six months of employment.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and in confined spaces and awkward positions requiring bending and twisting.

Responsibilities

• Operate jackhammers, chain cutters, power drills, hand tools, and other light equipment to assist with repair and maintenance of water and sewer lines, hydrants, mains, and related components.
• Operate a truck to haul materials and assist with installation and repair work on water and sewer lines, hydrants, and related components.
• Prepare and submit reports reflecting work performed, materials used, and work orders.
• Restore streets and other areas to their original condition after assigned projects, including shoveling soil, laying seed, and patching asphalt.
• May operate a backhoe to load a truck or perform other semi-skilled work.
• Perform manual labor, including lifting, digging, and climbing.
