The Equipment Inspector inspects inbound tractors and trailers to identify operating and DOT defects, ensuring safety and compliance. The role involves examining tractors, trailers, reefers, and tires; recording defects in the maintenance system; and communicating findings to drivers and shop personnel so repairs can be administered. The inspector maintains positive relationships with shop staff and drivers, follows instructions, maintains regular and predictable attendance, and performs other duties as assigned. The position requires working safely in a fast-paced, noisy environment around moving equipment. Physical tasks include regularly lifting 50 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 100 pounds, inspecting vehicles and repair work, and bending, stretching, kneeling, and squatting. DOT brake inspection certification is required as directed by the supervisor and/or location.
