About The Position

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Technician II to join our Remediation team in Jacksonville, FL. You will work on a diverse range of projects delivering remediation system solutions to our key clients. This position will involve travel throughout the region on a regular basis. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and work both independently and as part of a project team. In addition, the successful candidate will be committed to the team’s success and growth; will rigorously apply safety policies and procedures; and will effectively manage the quality of field efforts within the bounds of the AECOM Quality Management System. The role requires a strong mechanical and safety aptitude, and the candidate must have experience working with plumbing, electrical, and general construction related trades. Duties include (but will not be limited to) equipment maintenance coordination, remediation system maintenance, and environmental sampling activities. Although this is a field position that involves significant equipment maintenance and construction related activities, there will be direct interaction with clients and the candidate must have experience communicating with clients on a professional level.

Requirements

  • HS + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Experience operating and maintaining soil and groundwater remediation equipment
  • Ability to work outdoors, often in inclement weather conditions
  • Valid US Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must pass the AECOM Motor Vehicle screening
  • As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a drug screening

Nice To Haves

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with soil and groundwater remediation technologies, design, implementation, and operation/maintenance activities
  • Current 40-hr HazWOPER Certification and associated refresher
  • Current First Aid, CPR and AED certification
  • Strong understanding of project documentation requirements including taking organized and detailed field notes, recording observations

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of tasks in support of project staff.
  • May gather and maintain specified records of scientific data for supervisor, including but not limited to environmental sampling, operations and maintenance and inspections at client sites.
  • Other activities may include assisting with calculations, setting up and operating equipment, inspecting equipment and installations for compliance with specifications and maintaining proper project documentation.
  • Collects and enters data and applies technical principles and theories under supervision.
  • Self-motivated, organized and understands the concepts of environmental remediation projects including soil and groundwater sampling procedures.
  • Reports and documents routinely to project managers of field finds and conditions and makes recommendations based on findings.
