The Environmental Services Technician I is responsible for cleaning and disinfecting assigned areas within the hospital and/or off-site facilities. This includes patient rooms, offices, restrooms, elevators, stairwells, and other areas. The role involves operating various equipment, using chemicals and solutions according to policy, and maintaining an orderly, clean, and safe work environment. A key aspect of the role is ensuring customer satisfaction by utilizing AIDET, resolving conflicts constructively, and maintaining a positive attitude towards patients, families, and colleagues. The technician will also follow specific procedures for patient discharges, including washing and sanitizing beds and thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing rooms and washrooms. They will prepare detergents and cleaning solutions, sweep, dust mop, wet mop floors, and spot clean carpets. Furniture and carpet shampooing may also be required. The role involves moving equipment and furniture for cleaning and arranging it afterward. Additionally, the technician will collect and distribute linens, and collect trash and waste, including hazardous and medical waste, following established procedures. Commitment to professional growth through attending meetings, completing training, and seeking learning experiences is expected. Maintaining proper attendance and punctuality is also a key responsibility.
