About The Position

This position provides specialized transportation and disposal services to clients. The Environmental Specialist samples and profiles materials and handles manifesting, packaging, spill response, labeling, loading and unloading, and transportation coordination while complying with state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations. The role also involves maintaining a professional image with clients, answering inquiries, suggesting solutions, and operating and maintaining equipment efficiently.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to obtain a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazardous (H) endorsement is preferred.
• Ability to work the second shift, listed as 2:00 PM–11:00 PM CST in the requirements.
• Strong teamwork skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Computer proficiency.
• Ability to follow through on assignments.
• High school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to obtain a Class A or B CDL with Hazardous (H) endorsement.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related science discipline.

Responsibilities

• Sample waste streams according to prescribed policies and procedures.
• Manifest, package, label, load and unload materials, respond to spills and perform remedial activities, and coordinate transportation.
• Answer client inquiries and suggest solutions to existing or potential problems while maintaining a professional image.
• Comply with and enforce compliance, health, safety, and other procedures in accordance with VES-TS policies.
• Become familiar with applicable U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and VES-TS regulations for submitting paperwork to expedite hazardous-waste disposal.
• Operate and maintain equipment professionally to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
