About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for performing complete cleaning of assigned areas, including dusting, sanitizing, washing surfaces, sweeping, scrubbing, refinishing floors, vacuuming carpets, re-stocking restrooms, and replacing light bulbs. The role also involves removing waste, including soiled linen, trash, sharps, solid and hazardous waste, and recycling materials. The technician will maintain equipment, ensure a safe working environment, comply with infection control guidelines, and attend required training. Some outdoor cleaning and the use of ladders may be involved. The position requires heavy contact with cleaning chemicals and disinfecting agents.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas to include, but not limited to: Dusting and sanitizing furniture, equipment, mirrors and fixtures, Washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents and light fixtures, Sweeping, scrubbing and refinishing floors, Vacuuming and shampooing carpet, Re-stocking restrooms, Replacing light bulbs, Reporting repairs.
  • Assists with outdoor cleaning including parking lot, windows, and roof.
  • Uses a ladder for various cleaning activities.
  • Handles cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, floor strippers and finishes.
  • Removes waste by collecting and transporting soiled linen, emptying trash containers, changing sharps containers, transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors, recycling material, and emptying cigarette receptacles.
  • Keeps equipment clean and orderly and reports equipment failures or other mechanical issues to maintenance staff.
  • Maintains a safe working environment and provides quality service by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, infection control guidelines, and meeting departmental quality standards.
  • Attends all required in-service education and training classes including safety update programs to maintain technical knowledge.
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines.
