About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for performing complete cleaning of assigned areas, including dusting, sanitizing, washing surfaces, sweeping, scrubbing, refinishing floors, vacuuming, shampooing carpet, re-stocking restrooms, and replacing light bulbs. This role also involves reporting necessary repairs. The work is primarily indoors but may include outdoor cleaning such as parking lots, windows, and roofs, potentially requiring the use of a ladder. The position involves significant contact with cleaning chemicals and disinfecting agents. Waste removal is a key function, including collecting soiled linen, emptying trash and sharps containers, transporting solid and hazardous waste, recycling materials, and emptying cigarette receptacles. The technician is also responsible for keeping equipment clean and orderly, reporting failures, and maintaining a safe working environment by adhering to procedures, infection control guidelines, and departmental quality standards. Attendance at all required in-service education and training classes, including safety updates, is mandatory. The candidate must consistently demonstrate the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas to include, but not limited to: Dusting and sanitizing furniture, equipment, mirrors and fixtures, Washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents and light fixtures, Sweeping, scrubbing and refinishing floors, Vacuuming and shampooing carpet, Re-stocking restrooms, Replacing light bulbs, Reporting repairs.
  • Heavy contact with cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, floor strippers and finishes.
  • Removes waste by: Collecting and transporting soiled linen, Emptying trash containers, Changing sharps containers, Transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors, Recycling material, Emptying cigarette receptacles in smoking areas.
  • Keeps equipment clean and orderly and reports equipment failures or other mechanical issues to maintenance staff.
  • Maintains safe working environment and provides quality service by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, infection control guidelines, and meeting departmental quality standards.
  • Attends all required in-service education and training classes including safety update programs to maintain technical knowledge.
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines.
