Environmental Services Technician - Advocate/Atrium Health Union - 1st Shift Full-Time
About The Position
The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for performing complete cleaning of assigned areas, including dusting, sanitizing, washing surfaces, sweeping, scrubbing, refinishing floors, vacuuming carpets, re-stocking restrooms, replacing light bulbs, and reporting repairs. The role may also involve outdoor cleaning and the use of ladders. The technician will handle cleaning chemicals and disinfecting agents, remove waste including soiled linen and trash, and transport waste to compactors. Maintaining equipment, ensuring a safe working environment, and adhering to infection control guidelines are also key functions. The position requires attending all required in-service education and training classes to maintain technical knowledge and consistently meeting time schedules and deadlines.

Responsibilities
- Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas to include, but not limited to: Dusting and sanitizing furniture, equipment, mirrors and fixtures, Washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents and light fixtures, Sweeping, scrubbing and refinishing floors, Vacuuming and shampooing carpet, Re-stocking restrooms, Replacing light bulbs, Reporting repairs.
- Most of the work is indoors but may assist with outdoor cleaning including parking lot, windows, and roof. Various cleaning activities may include the use of a ladder.
- Heavy contact with cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, floor strippers and finishes.
- Removes waste by: Collecting and transporting soiled linen, Emptying trash containers, Changing sharps containers, Transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors, Recycling material, Emptying cigarette receptacles in smoking areas.
- Keeps equipment clean and orderly and reports equipment failures or other mechanical issues to maintenance staff.
- Maintains safe working environment and provides quality service by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, infection control guidelines, and meeting departmental quality standards.
- Attends all required in-service education and training classes including safety update programs to maintain technical knowledge.
- Consistently demonstrates the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines.
