Environmental Services Technician - Advocate/Atrium Health Union - 2nd Shift Full Time
About The Position
The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for performing complete cleaning of assigned areas, handling cleaning chemicals and disinfecting agents, removing waste, and maintaining a safe working environment. This role involves indoor and occasional outdoor cleaning, including the use of ladders and various cleaning equipment. The technician must comply with infection control guidelines and departmental quality standards, attend required training, and demonstrate the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines. The work environment can be stressful, fast-paced, and may involve exposure to contaminated areas, extreme temperatures, and unpleasant smells.

Responsibilities
- Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas to include dusting and sanitizing furniture, equipment, mirrors and fixtures.
- Washes windows, walls, ceilings, vents and light fixtures.
- Sweeps, scrubs and refinishes floors.
- Vacuums and shampoos carpet.
- Re-stocks restrooms.
- Replaces light bulbs.
- Reports repairs.
- Assists with outdoor cleaning including parking lot, windows, and roof.
- Handles cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, floor strippers and finishes.
- Removes waste by collecting and transporting soiled linen, emptying trash containers, changing sharps containers, transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors, recycling material, and emptying cigarette receptacles.
- Keeps equipment clean and orderly and reports equipment failures or other mechanical issues to maintenance staff.
- Maintains a safe working environment and provides quality service by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, infection control guidelines, and meeting departmental quality standards.
- Attends all required in-service education and training classes including safety update programs to maintain technical knowledge.
- Consistently demonstrates the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines.
