About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for performing complete cleaning of assigned areas, handling cleaning chemicals, removing waste, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a safe and quality working environment. This role involves adhering to infection control guidelines and departmental standards, attending required training, and meeting time schedules. The position may involve indoor and outdoor cleaning tasks, including the use of ladders, and requires working with various cleaning agents and waste materials.

Responsibilities

• Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas including dusting and sanitizing furniture, equipment, mirrors and fixtures.
• Washes windows, walls, ceilings, vents and light fixtures.
• Sweeps, scrubs and refinishes floors.
• Vacuums and shampoos carpet.
• Re-stocks restrooms.
• Replaces light bulbs.
• Reports repairs.
• Assists with outdoor cleaning including parking lot, windows, and roof.
• Handles cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, floor strippers and finishes.
• Removes waste by collecting and transporting soiled linen, emptying trash containers, changing sharps containers, transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors, recycling material, and emptying cigarette receptacles.
• Keeps equipment clean and orderly and reports equipment failures or other mechanical issues to maintenance staff.
• Maintains a safe working environment and provides quality service by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, infection control guidelines, and meeting departmental quality standards.
• Attends all required in-service education and training classes including safety update programs to maintain technical knowledge.
• Consistently demonstrates the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines.
