About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for performing complete cleaning of assigned areas, including dusting, sanitizing, washing surfaces, floor care, and restocking restrooms. This role also involves removing waste, maintaining equipment, ensuring a safe working environment, and attending required training. The position may require assisting with outdoor cleaning and using ladders. The technician will have heavy contact with cleaning chemicals and disinfecting agents.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a housekeeper aide or similar job.
  • Capable of working independently.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and complete written forms.
  • Can prioritize assignments to complete work in a timely manner.
  • Can operate equipment.
  • Can establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas to include dusting and sanitizing furniture, equipment, mirrors and fixtures.
  • Washes windows, walls, ceilings, vents and light fixtures.
  • Sweeps, scrubs and refinishes floors.
  • Vacuums and shampoos carpet.
  • Re-stocks restrooms.
  • Replaces light bulbs.
  • Reports repairs.
  • Assists with outdoor cleaning including parking lot, windows, and roof.
  • Uses a ladder for various cleaning activities.
  • Handles cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, floor strippers and finishes.
  • Removes waste by collecting and transporting soiled linen.
  • Empties trash containers.
  • Changes sharps containers.
  • Transports solid and hazardous waste to compactors.
  • Recycles material.
  • Empties cigarette receptacles in smoking areas.
  • Keeps equipment clean and orderly and reports equipment failures or other mechanical issues to maintenance staff.
  • Maintains safe working environment and provides quality service by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, infection control guidelines, and meeting departmental quality standards.
  • Attends all required in-service education and training classes including safety update programs to maintain technical knowledge.
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines.
  • Oversees daily staff duties and assignments in the department, and ensures completion that meets the set standard.
  • Evaluates conditions and cleanliness through inspection and quality control measures.
  • Coordinates staff training in proper use of chemicals, equipment processes, and safety issues.
