About The Position

The Environmental Services Tech cleans and services building areas, moves furniture, equipment, and supplies, and performs environmental services duties to maintain the hospital in a neat, safe, and sanitary condition. The role is at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, a 116-bed community hospital in Hartsville, South Carolina.

The position selects cleaning supplies and prepares cleaning solutions, loads and transports a service cart, and cleans assigned areas using germicidal solutions. Duties include cleaning floors, carpets, restrooms, and other surfaces; removing trash; and replenishing essentials. The Tech may also handle hazardous waste and soiled or clean linen, arrange furniture for events, and keep supplies orderly in the janitor closet.

Requirements

• Good interpersonal skills.
• Able to read and understand English to comprehend instructions for cleaning materials.
• High school diploma or equivalent, including education equivalent to completion of secondary school, or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role (preferred).

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in an acute care setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Select cleaning materials and supplies, prepare cleaning solutions, and load and transport a service cart to the work area.
• Clean assigned areas, including walls, doors, tile, fixtures, patient TVs, and equipment, using germicidal cleaning solutions.
• Sweep and mop floors, vacuum carpet, and spot-clean carpet using appropriate solutions.
• Clean restrooms, vanity areas, showers, and commodes, maintaining sanitary and odor-free conditions; replenish essentials.
• Collect and remove trash, and sanitize garbage cans and the compactor area.
• May collect and transport hazardous waste in a special closed container for sterilization before disposal.
• May collect soiled linen and distribute clean linen.
• Arrange furniture for meetings, workshops, and community affairs.
• Return unused supplies to the janitor closet and keep supplies orderly.
