About The Position

The system has more than 2,500 colleagues and is one of the largest employers in Northeast Iowa. The Environmental Services Tech cleans and disinfects patient care and public areas at MercyOne Northeast Iowa in accordance with cleanliness standards. The role follows MercyOne performance expectations and performs services and related duties consistent with its mission, vision, and values. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week day-shift position. The usual schedule is 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., but hours can vary. Weekend and holiday rotation is required.

Requirements

Ability to read, write, and understand English, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff, and physicians while performing job duties.
Mandatory Reporter.
If driving is required, a valid Iowa driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
Ability to work with a large degree of independence.
Professional image.
Sensitivity to customer needs.
Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

Clean patient and resident rooms to provide a clean, sanitary environment.
Clean administrative and support areas.
Perform special functions and requirements to keep work areas neat, orderly, and available for use.
Keep equipment, carts, and closets clean, orderly, and operational.
Contribute to the safety, security, and efficiency of the department.
Follow proper floor-cleaning procedures and care for equipment properly.
