About The Position
The Environmental Service Technician performs daily duties to establish and maintain a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing healthcare environment. The role involves interacting with patients, visitors, and clinical and non-clinical staff, and completing timely room turnovers to support patient throughput while following environmental hygiene and infection prevention principles. The technician contributes to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention, and patient experience in accordance with organizational quality standards. Success requires proficiency in cleaning and infection control protocols, attention to safety and waste management, adherence to guidelines, a strong work ethic, accountability, and effective communication.

- Previous healthcare experience.
Responsibilities
- Complete assigned daily occupied-room and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and common areas.
- Perform duties in accordance with healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements.
- Use chemicals and handle equipment safely throughout the healthcare environment.
- Maintain cleaning carts, supplies, and equipment according to the Standard Work cart setup.
- Remove waste and transport it to the appropriate disposal area, identifying and handling regulated medical, recyclable, solid, and hazardous waste according to established procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Follow infection prevention practices, including cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, and proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE).
