About The Position

The City of Chandler Management Services Department is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Environmental Services Manager. This role involves managing environmental services staff and resources, providing guidance to City management, acting as a liaison to environmental regulatory agencies, maintaining central compliance records, and overseeing all aspects of environmental incidents from clean-up to reporting. The Environmental Management Division, consisting of 5 positions, offers environmental compliance guidance and oversight for City operations and facilities, including managing the City’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Permit, reviewing environmental due diligence for property acquisitions, maintaining central environmental compliance files, and managing spill clean-up activities and regulatory reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Environmental Science or related field
  • 5 years of experience with regulatory compliance activities
  • 2 years of supervisory experience in a municipality
  • A valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work

Responsibilities

  • Manage environmental services staff and resources
  • Provide advice and guidance to City management
  • Serve as the liaison to environmental regulatory agencies
  • Maintain the City's central compliance records
  • Manage all aspects of environmental incidents from clean-up to reporting
  • Manage the City’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Permit
  • Review environmental due diligence for property acquisitions
  • Maintain central environmental compliance files
  • Manage clean-up activities when environmental spills occur on City property
  • Report environmental incidents to the proper regulatory agency
