About The Position

The Environmental Services Assistant works at Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital for Rehabilitation as part of the facilities team, helping create a comfortable, sanitary, and safe environment for patients and caregivers. The role involves maintaining cleanliness and appearance throughout the facility, including patient areas, offices, restrooms, patient bathrooms, conference rooms, kitchens, lounges, and therapy areas. The caregiver works second shift, 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with first-shift weekend and holiday requirements.

Requirements

• Basic reading and writing skills.
• One to three months of on-the-job training to learn departmental policies and procedures, cleaning techniques, and the proper use and storage of cleaning agents and chemicals.
• Basic understanding of the age-specific developmental stages of patients served by the Hospital and the ability to interact appropriately with patients of all ages.
• Ability to perform work in a stationary position and remain mobile for extended periods.
• Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
• Ability to move or transport items and equipment weighing up to 10 pounds and carts weighing up to or more than 100 pounds.
• Ability to inspect equipment and clean using cleaning equipment and products.
• May come into contact with communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Create a sanitary, safe environment and enhance the appearance of the facility.
• Maintain cleanliness in patient areas, offices, restrooms, patient bathrooms, conference rooms, kitchens, lounges, therapy areas, and other areas.
• Follow policies and procedures for patient isolation.
• Stock paper items and other supplies in patient rooms.
• Keep carts and equipment clean and in working condition, and return them to appropriate storage areas after use.
• Follow standard precautions and use personal protective equipment as required.
