About The Position

The Environmental Services Assistant cleans and services assigned areas, using proper cleaning and sanitation techniques in accordance with established standards and regulations to maintain a clean, sanitary environment and help prevent the spread of disease. The role includes cleaning furnishings, equipment, and floors with appropriate cleaning solutions and disinfectants; gathering and transporting supplies; replenishing dispensable items; and removing and disposing of trash and soiled linens. The assistant reports negative conditions in assigned areas to the Director or Supervisor on duty and may perform other assigned duties, including laundry services. On-the-job training is provided.

Requirements

Demonstrated communication and customer service skills.
Adaptability to routine, repetitive manual tasks.
Ability to follow oral or written instructions.
Physical effort includes standing, stooping, pulling, pushing, and routine lifting up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

High school graduate preferred.
Previous cleaning experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Clean and service assigned areas using established cleaning and sanitation standards.
Wash furnishings and equipment and mop floors with cleaning solutions and disinfectants.
Assemble supplies from the supply room and transport them to work areas.
Replenish soap, towels, linen, and other dispensable items.
Report negative conditions observed in assigned areas to the Director or Supervisor on duty.
Gather and dispose of trash and reline receptacles with plastic bags.
Remove soiled linens.
Perform other assigned duties, including laundry services, as assigned.
