About The Position

The Environmental Service Worker is responsible for general cleaning of interior building areas in San Luis Obispo, California. Areas include classrooms, restrooms, offices, public spaces, entryways, patient care facilities, lobbies, conference rooms, study rooms, and research and simulation labs. The position also maintains exterior building entrances, including emptying trash receptacles, cleaning sidewalks, and cleaning lobby door entrances. The employee assists with special event setups and teardowns, which may include occasional night and weekend coverage.

Requirements

• Ability to move freely around a building, including navigating stairs and ramps.
• Ability to safely and effectively use hand tools and equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions from supervisors.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative without constant supervision.
• Ability to adapt to changing work assignments and priorities.
• Ability to identify and solve cleanliness and safety problems.

Responsibilities

• Clean designated interior building areas by dusting and wiping surfaces, sinks, countertops, desks, chairs, windows, fixtures, and ledges.
• Detail clean restrooms.
• Clean hard-surface and carpeted floors.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles.
• Restock supply carts, closets, and designated areas.
• Move and set up furniture.
• Assist with special event setups and teardowns.
• Maintain exterior entrances, including emptying trash receptacles and cleaning sidewalks and lobby door entrances.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
