About The Position

The Bluegrass Station Division is hiring an Environmental Scientist Advisor position that serves as a technical advisor to staff and agency stakeholders in the implementation of scientific programs and projects at the Lexington Bluegrass Station Division regional level. This role also serves as an expert in the development of guidelines and procedures relating to environmental programs.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a natural, biological or physical science OR Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 20 semester hours in a natural, biological or physical science.
  • Five years of experience in natural resources, environmental control, or a related area.
  • Graduate study in a natural, biological, or physical science will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience in natural resources, environmental control, engineering, or a related area will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as technical advisor to staff and agency stakeholders in the implementation of scientific programs and projects to include environmental compliance, emergency response, permitting and reporting for air quality and hazardous waste, underground storage tanks, landfills, monitoring wells, wastewater, stormwater, drinking water, lead based paint, mold and asbestos in the Lexington Bluegrass Station Division region.
  • Manage environmental consultants and contractors on environmental projects and emergency response, including developing scopes of work for requests for proposals and quotes.
  • Manage project budgets and schedules, compliance with applicable environmental OSHA laws regulations.
  • Contracts with consultants through the use of Master Agreement and coordination with Division of Engineering Contractor Administration.
  • Technical manager for all tenant environmental projects, permits compliance and environmental emergency response, including providing resolutions to environmental issues and interpretation of environmental and OSHA laws and regulations.
  • Manages, develops and administers environmental trainings.
  • Coordinates with tenants on all air, water, land and safety permits, consolidates and submits all environmental reports.
  • Manages the overall safety plan for Lexington Bluegrass Station Division ensuring equipment is tested and personnel are trained in accordance with OSHA and state guidelines.
