About The Position

The mission of the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet (EEC) is to improve the quality of life for all Kentuckians by protecting our land, air, and water resources by utilizing our natural resources in an environmentally conscientious manner. By joining the Division of Forestry, Forest Management Branch, Nursery Section as an Interim Tree Nursery Aide in Marshall County, you will have the opportunity to provide support in nursery operations and assist in ensuring the integrity and consistency of the nursery's tree seedlings.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Effective organization and documentation skills.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of agriculture, horticulture, tree care, or farm operations experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting nursery personnel with the daily monitoring of nursery conditions, activities, and performance.
  • Preparing beds for seeding, and covering beds with mulch.
  • Collecting, extracting, and processing various types of seed.
  • Maintaining beds, keeping them weeded, irrigated, and fertilized to promote seedling growth.
  • Lifting, packing, and shipping bare root tree seedlings.
