About The Position

This role is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing various equipment and areas within a food plant, including smoke trucks, combos, smoke sticks, baskets, garbage cans, coolers, storage rooms, and docks. The position involves using dangerous/caustic chemicals with proper protective gear, pushing and pulling heavy equipment, and operating various machinery like automatic rack washers, hand jacks, electric pallet jacks, forklifts, high lifts, and floor scrubbers. The Environmental Sanitor will also assist all departments as needed and adhere to all safety and quality policies.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must demonstrate excellent work habits in line with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Must demonstrate safe working habits.
• Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds frequently.
• Ability to push roll equipment that weighs in excess of 650 pounds.
• Must possess general knowledge of machine operation with the ability to recognize problems when they occur.
• Must be able to bend/stoop squat down, etc.
• Must be able to learn and perform all positions.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be willing to attend forklift, pallet jack, floor scrubber and high lift training.
• Must have good human relations skills (the ability to work well with others and be a team player).
• Must be able to work any shift, nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
• Must have excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Must be willing to assist other team members in other areas.
• Must be able to perform steady and productive work for an extended period of time.
• Must be able to work efficiently with little or no supervision.
• Must be able to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
• Must possess basic math skills.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and sanitizing smoke trucks (racks), large plastic combos, smoke sticks, baskets, garbage cans and other equipment as needed.
• Cleaning and sanitizing of coolers, storage rooms and docks, including floors and drains, and removal of processing waste and trash.
• Use dangerous/caustic chemicals while donning proper protective gear.
• Push and pull heavy equipment continually during shift which includes, but is not limited to, transporting of racks, tubs, baskets, and combos and other equipment plant wide.
• Operate the automatic tree (rack) wash, hand jacks, electric pallet jacks, fork lifts, high lifts, floor scrubbers and other equipment as needed, once properly trained.
• Assisting all departments in all areas of the food plant as needed.
• Adhere to all safety and quality policies while on Publix property.
• Other duties assigned.
