Requirements

  • Two years as an Environmental Group Manager (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Seven years of professional environmental protection experience that includes two years of technical supervisory experience and a bachelor’s degree in the biological, physical or environmental sciences, engineering, or in a field closely related to environmental protection or regulation
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience in environmental protection that includes two years of technical supervisory experience
  • Possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent
  • Meet the PA residency requirement

Responsibilities

  • Direct regional waste management activities and coordinate major program components
  • Guide Section Chiefs, set clear expectations, and support staff with regular communication
  • Prioritize enforcement actions and coordinate activities with legal and investigative partners
  • Review, monitor, and support municipal planning and resource recovery grants
  • Establish permitting priorities and manage the regional permitting workload
  • Determine staffing needs, assign workloads, and coordinate emergency response participation
