About The Position

Geosyntec is seeking an Environmental Practice Team Lead in its Anchorage, Alaska office. This role involves leading a technical and client-driven team of scientists and engineers to solve environmental problems. The ideal candidate will have an advanced, innovative mindset and the ability to develop forward-thinking ideas. A robust relocation package is available for candidates willing to relocate to Anchorage, AK. The position will focus on leading and growing the practice in the Northwest Operation, managing client development, contaminant site investigation, human and ecological risk assessment, geospatial data and visualization, solid waste management, and environmental compliance. An entrepreneurial attitude, enthusiasm for business and client development, mentoring, and recruiting are essential. This role is suitable for a talented, experienced individual interested in leadership and contributing to innovative projects, including financial and technical evaluation, design, permitting, and construction stages. The Alaskan client base is diverse, including industrial, institutional, and governmental clients. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, earth science (geology or hydrology), engineering (environmental, civil, or chemical engineering), or a related subject (required).
  • At least 15 years of direct environmental consulting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience (required).
  • Demonstrable track record of successful client management and business development (required).
  • Excellent technical leadership of multi-disciplinary project teams (required).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed (required).
  • Detailed understanding of USEPA regulations (required).
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in a related field (preferred).
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E, P.G.) (preferred).
  • A minimum of 8 years of consulting experience in Alaska (preferred).
  • Collaborative leadership style with strong communication skills and executive presence (preferred).
  • Thorough understanding of Alaska DEC regulations (preferred).
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and mentor a team of ten, with potential for growth, taking on project and staff management responsibilities.
  • Work on challenging technical projects and leverage existing knowledge to expand Geosyntec's practices and capabilities through business development, people management, and client management.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams, including data scientists, geologists, engineers, chemists, risk assessors, and modelers, both locally and across the firm.
  • Build a client portfolio by securing repeat business from existing clients and winning new clients.
  • Foster trust-based relationships with clients, regulatory personnel, and other project stakeholders.
  • Supervise senior personnel and assist them in achieving their business and practice goals.
  • Delegate to, mentor, guide, and motivate early career staff in project performance, cost and schedule management, client expectations, and career development.
  • Manage performance, load leveling, conflict resolution, communication, and overall strategy for the Alaska team and its positioning within the greater Northwest Operation.
  • Perform task and project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting, budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Manage and direct challenging technical projects, leveraging existing knowledge and experience to expand Geosyntec's practices and capabilities through industry technical leadership, business development, and client management.
  • Oversee safety, quality, risk, and compliance for projects and deliverables.
  • Prepare and review technical work plans, reports, letters, memoranda, data evaluation, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
  • Potentially engage in fieldwork, including site visits, and business travel.
