About The Position

In this role, the individual will be responsible for the development, communication, implementation, training, and evaluation of Environmental Health and Safety Programs at the St. Louis facility.

Requirements

Minimum of 1- 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or laboratory setting.
Familiar with EHS programs and regulatory requirements.
Bachelor’s Degree or higher
OSHA 10 hour course completion or within 60 days of employment
Knowledge of OSHA standards, including Injury record keeping.
Computer literate on PC and related software.

Responsibilities

Coordinates the day-to-day implementation of the site safety and industrial hygiene policies and procedures
Assure compliance with applicable DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations
Develops and conducts periodic safety audits / assessments to evaluate compliance to regulations and facility safety policies & procedures.
Documents assessment findings, assists production management in resolving discrepancies
Performs ergonomic evaluations and assists in implementation of process improvements
Assures contractor compliance with applicable safety and environmental policies
Participates with teams to design new and existing processes with hazard minimization and waste reduction as primary objective
Updates and maintains action items within Safety and Environmental Profession database
Responsible for development of safety training materials. Delivers training content as necessary
Performs risk assessments and process evaluations to determine the need for engineering controls and/or administrative controls.
Coordinates implementation of process controls as related to safety/environmental issues
Drive pollution prevention and sustainability programs
Develops and maintains plant safety committees and safety teams
Lead incident investigation team, evaluate risks and incidents, and identify areas where costs and loss experience can be improved.
Manage worker’s compensation claims and coordinate employee health activities
Perform waste audits and coordinate shipment of regulated waste
Monitor compliance with wastewater permits including coordinating wastewater sampling and data tracking
Track metrics, prepare and submit monthly reports.
Prepare plant communications including weekly safety topics
Responsible for collecting, preparing and transferring many types of chemicals and other hazardous materials.
Review materials used by manufacturing operations and maintain Safety Data Sheet database
Responsible for conducting weekly safety inspections such as Hazardous Waste areas.
Evaluation and implementation of Personal Protective Equipment
Perform Job Safety Analysis
Aid in the timely preparation of required reports to regulatory agencies as requested
Develop and implement procedures/SOPs to reduce safety/environmental risks and to address emergency situations
Develop and provide EHS related training programs on various EHS topics including Lab Safety, Respirator Program, PPE. Hearing Conservation, First Aid/CPR, LOTO, Chemical Hygiene, and Hazardous Communication
Maintain Sustainability Report and records
Collaborate with management to further the objectives of health and safety programs
Facilitate and manage employee-based Safety Committee
Coordinate annual EHS training matrix
Coordinate and develop training & drills for Emergency Evacuation requirements
Serve an active role in the incident investigation process and root cause analysis
Other tasks as deemed necessary
