About The Position

This position serves as an Environmental Health Metrics Specialist and District Trainer for a 14-county district. The role involves planning, coordinating, organizing, and overseeing the development and implementation of the Environmental Health (EH) data literacy and performance management program. It supports the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and processes related to the Georgia Environmental Health Information System (EHIS) project. The specialist will develop and maintain district performance measures and metric reporting, review and audit data quality using Power BI and Excel, build dashboards to track performance and trends, and lead EHIS and metrics training coordination. The role also includes tracking staff training needs, developing and delivering training for staff to support consistent performance, assisting with onboarding new staff, providing training and coaching, and offering training opportunities and resources for CEU requirements. Additionally, the position provides flexible field support across all 14 counties, performing inspections, permitting, investigations, and other EHS duties, and assisting with overdue services and backlogs. On-site guidance and coaching of staff to reinforce standards, improve consistency, and support staff development are key. The specialist will create and maintain training materials and documents within the District SharePoint system and respond to Public Health Emergencies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience meeting current Georgia requirements for Environmental Health Specialist II, III, IV, or higher.
  • Cross-trained and proficient in all core Environmental Health programs and services.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data entry, sorting, filtering, formatting, chart creation, and use of basic formulas and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, reach, and lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, or a related field, or current registration as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) through the Georgia Environmental Health Association or National Environmental Health Association.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience conducting plan reviews, permitting, and inspections across multiple Environmental Health programs.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications to produce professional work for reports, presentations, and similar.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, formulas/functions, pivot tables, charts, data organization, trend analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience using Microsoft Power BI for data visualization, dashboard development, reporting, and trend analysis.
  • Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in Land Use, Food Service, or other Environmental Health programs/services.
  • Experience serving as a district trainer, including food service training, land use training, and performing audits.
  • Experience as a course proctor for Certified Food Safety Manager (CFSM) training and/or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) courses.
  • Experience developing, delivering, or supporting education and training for Environmental Health staff or external partners.
  • Experience related to the Preferred Qualifications.
  • Working some evenings and weekends during special events such as health fairs and responding to disasters.
