About The Position

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist I in Boca Raton, FL. The primary duties of this role are in support of the EH&S fire safety program. This includes serving as a liaison to the State Fire Marshal, coordinating State Fire Marshal inspections of facilities and construction sites, responding to fire alarms, and coordinating corrective actions for fire safety deficiencies.

Requirements

High school diploma and four years of appropriate experience required.

Responsibilities

Conducts inspections and prepares recommendations for corrective action.
Coordinates the maintenance of safety equipment.
Conducts training programs to educate the university community on preventative measures.
Reviews accidental injury reports, conducts investigations, and maintains statistics of accident cases.
Assists in reviewing plans for new construction and renovation for compliance with applicable building codes.
Provides support for general EH&S operations, including record keeping, training, equipment maintenance, and EH&S facilities and vehicle maintenance.
Collects and transports hazardous wastes.
Perform job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
