About The Position

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist I in Boca Raton, FL. This role primarily supports the EH&S fire safety program. Key responsibilities include serving as a liaison to the State Fire Marshal, coordinating SFM inspections of facilities and construction sites, responding to fire alarms, and coordinating corrective actions for fire safety deficiencies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and four years of appropriate experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts inspections and prepares recommendations for corrective action.
  • Coordinates the maintenance of safety equipment.
  • Conducts training programs to educate the university community on preventative measures.
  • Reviews accidental injury reports, conducts investigations, and maintains statistics of accident cases.
  • Assists in reviewing plans for new construction and renovation for compliance with applicable building codes.
  • Provides support for general EH&S operations, including record keeping, training, equipment maintenance, and EH&S facilities and vehicle maintenance.
  • Collects and transports hazardous wastes.
  • Performs job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
