The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist I, under general supervision, provides specialized knowledge in the operation and support of assigned area within an environmental health and safety program. This role involves investigations, assessments, and oversight for TAMU’s environmental compliance with various acts including the Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). The specialist will provide interpretations of environmental laws and regulations, conduct audits, assist in developing and implementing compliance programs and training, and prepare necessary reports and permit applications. Additionally, the role includes preparing and conducting emergency response trainings, developing training aids, and responding to chemical spills or hazardous waste emergencies.
