About The Position

Under general supervision, provides technical support and guidance for environmental projects and programs at assigned site. As the Environmental Engineer II, you install, operate, and maintain environmental and emission monitoring instruments and testing equipment and analyze data for compliance with regulatory requirements. Evaluate and assess environmental risk and develop programs for risk reduction while collaborating in recommending appropriate action to management in compliance with regulations. In this role, you review and/or prepare and maintain detailed records and files of environmental data and communications and evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment. You will maintain basic working knowledge of national, regional and local environmental, occupational health, and other applicable regulations, as well as knowledge of site environmental policies and procedures. Provide leadership to less experienced engineers and technicians and may serve as Project Manager or technical expert on small to medium-sized environmental projects such as compliance, remediation, or reclamation. Lead or participate in regular audits and inspections of operations areas to ensure compliance with site environmental policies, procedures, and Environmental Management System requirements. Coordinate the timely recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets in compliance with applicable legal and other requirements and track and report these activities as directed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Agricultural, Mining, Metallurgical, Geological or similar) and at least three (3) years environmental or related experience; OR Master’s degree in Engineering in a related field and at least one (1) year environmental or related experience.
  • Additional certification or licensure appropriate to the job may be required or preferred such as HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS Auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, or CHMM.
  • Up to 50% Travel to sites.
  • Must live in Phoenix or Tucson, Arizona area(s).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge or experience with Federal and Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado water quality regulation and programs including CWA, NPDES, APP, drinking water.
  • Familiarity with hydrogeologic field methods such as well installation, aquifer testing, water sampling.
  • Experience with data analysis, databases such as EQuIS and data validation.
  • Understanding of groundwater modeling software such as MODFLOW and FEFLOW.
  • Familiarity with well development techniques and well health programs.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel and perform fieldwork under varying conditions.
