Requirements

  • Environmental Scientist II: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Earth Science or related natural science (such as Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Hydrology, Forestry, Agriculture, Meteorology, Environmental/Natural Resource Management) or Mathematics/Computer Science including Accounting and Finance, or, Business Management or other Bachelor’s degree, and at least three (3) years environmental or related experience, OR Master’s degree in a related field and at least one (1) year environmental or related experience.
  • Environmental Engineer II: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Agricultural, Mining, Metallurgical, Geological or similar) and at least three (3) years environmental or related experience, OR Master’s degree in Engineering in a related field and at least one (1) year environmental or related experience.
  • Additional certification or licensure appropriate to the job may be required or preferred: (US Examples include: HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS Auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, or CHMM.)
  • Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
  • Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.
  • Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.

Responsibilities

  • Install, operate, and maintain environmental and emission monitoring instruments and testing equipment; analyze data for compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate and assess environmental risk and develop programs for risk reduction.
  • Collaborate in recommending appropriate action to management in compliance with regulations.
  • Review and/or prepare and maintain detailed records and files of environmental data and communications.
  • Evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment.
  • Maintain basic working knowledge of national, regional and local environmental, occupational health, and other applicable regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of site environmental policies and procedures.
  • May provide leadership to less experienced Engineers and Technicians.
  • May serve as Project Manager or technical expert on small to medium-sized environmental projects (e.g., compliance, remediation, or reclamation).
  • Lead or participate in regular audits and inspections of operations areas for purposes of ensuring compliance with site environmental policies, procedures and requirements of the Environmental Management System.
  • Coordinate the timely recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets in compliance with applicable legal and other requirements.
  • Track and report the recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
