About The Position

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, the Environmental Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring environmental compliance, monitoring performance, and supporting the implementation of environmental management systems. This position involves fieldwork, reporting, stakeholder engagement, and supporting continuous improvement of environmental practices across the site.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in environmental monitoring compliance, preferably in an industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with federal, provincial, and local environmental agencies.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Strong fieldwork experience, including environmental sampling and data collection.
  • Capable of performing outdoor fieldwork in varying working conditions.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures for working in various environments.
  • Proficiency in using software for data entry, analysis, including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
  • Attentive to detail when collecting, recording, and analyzing environmental data to ensure accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective reporting, documentation, and collaboration with team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in operating environmental monitoring equipment and tools is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report on environmental performance, including air, water, and soil quality.
  • Conduct field sampling, inspections, and audits to ensure regulatory and permit compliance.
  • Prepare and submit environmental reports to regulatory agencies as required.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving the site’s Environmental Management System.
  • Coordinate waste management, spill response, and reclamation activities.
  • Support environmental training and awareness programs for site personnel.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, Indigenous communities, and local stakeholders as needed.
  • Maintain environmental records and databases.
  • Manage field sample supplies and associated equipment.
  • May be required to operate various recreational vehicles to access field sample locations.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations within the area of responsibility.
  • Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation and commitment to satisfy our operation’s goal of being accident-free.
  • Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
