About The Position

Dryden Fibre Canada is currently seeking an Environmental Analyst to join the Dryden Team. This role involves assisting with the monitoring, control, analysis, planning, and communication related to environmental standards for air emissions, wastewater and effluent, and non-hazardous and hazardous waste management. The City of Dryden is located on the North shoreline of the Wabigoon Chain of Lakes along the Trans-Canada Highway, midway between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario, and is surrounded by wilderness, lakes, and landscapes. Dryden Fibre Canada produces Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft primarily used in the manufacturing of premium towel and tissue products. Requirements

  • Degree/diploma in an environmental or related discipline or 1-3 years demonstrated experience working in a pulp mill.
  • Good understanding of applicable environmental regulations.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a team environment.
  • The ability to co-ordinate environmental regulation activities.
  • A safety-oriented mindset with the desire to enforce and follow mill safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities, including technical writing, budget preparation and presentations.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Positive attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and monitor procedures to confirm that operations are in compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Ensure government reporting requirements are met.
  • Provide guidance and support to operations and contractors for routine and emergency environmental issues.
  • Conduct compliance sampling and monitoring and analyze data to support regulatory reporting and continuous improvement of the mill’s environmental management system.
  • Conduct field inspections and surveys.
  • Work with internal and external laboratories to effectively manage sampling and regulatory reporting.
  • Ensure the management of waste on site is conducted in compliance with environmental regulations and Transportation of Dangerous Goods requirements.
  • Participate in Environmental on-call rotation coverage.
