About The Position

This intern position is in Aquarion's Watershed and Environmental Management Department and reports out of the Aspetuck Environmental Center at 714 Black Rock Road, Easton, Connecticut. The role is for the remainder of the 2026 calendar year and availability through the fall semester is strongly preferred. The Environmental Analyst Intern can work up to 29 hours each week between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (Monday through Friday). The flexible schedule is well suited to (upperclassmen) undergraduate or graduate students.

Requirements

  • Hold and maintain a valid State of Connecticut license to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Able to lift coolers of water samples in and out of their vehicle.
  • Able to walk in wooded areas and on uneven terrain.
  • Upperclassman undergraduate or graduate student in related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Availability through the fall semester is strongly preferred.
  • Seeking or recently received degrees in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources, Forestry, Biology, Ecology, or a related field.
  • Can work at least 20 hours most weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Trained in sample collection, inspection, and data entry activities to support both the Source Protection and Environmental Compliance programs.
  • Opportunity to learn about and assist the department with natural resource, land management, forestry, and outdoor recreation programs.
  • Source Protection inspections
  • Environmental compliance inspections
  • Watershed sample collection
  • Wastewater sample collection from drinking water treatment facilities
  • Data entry using MS Office Suite, ArcGIS, Klir, etc.
  • Compiling data for annual compliance filings
  • Forestry inventory and boundary marking
  • Compilation of Sustainability metrics
