About The Position

Aquarion Water Company is seeking an Environmental Analyst Intern to join its Watershed and Environmental Management Department. This internship is based at the Aspetuck Environmental Center in Easton, Connecticut, and is available for the remainder of the 2026 calendar year, with strong preference for fall semester availability. The intern will work up to 29 hours per week, with flexible hours between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, making it suitable for upperclassmen undergraduate or graduate students. The company is the public water supply for over 750,000 people across Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, and is committed to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices.

Requirements

  • Hold and maintain a valid State of Connecticut license to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Be able to lift coolers of water samples in and out of their vehicle.
  • Be able to walk in wooded areas and on uneven terrain.
  • Seeking or recently received degrees in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources, Forestry, Biology, Ecology, or a related field.
  • Can work at least 20 hours most weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Be trained in sample collection, inspection, and data entry activities to support Source Protection and Environmental Compliance programs.
  • Learn about and assist the department with natural resource, land management, forestry, and outdoor recreation programs.
  • Conduct Source Protection inspections.
  • Conduct Environmental compliance inspections.
  • Perform watershed sample collection.
  • Collect wastewater samples from drinking water treatment facilities.
  • Enter data using MS Office Suite, ArcGIS, Klir, etc.
  • Compile data for annual compliance filings.
  • Participate in forestry inventory and boundary marking.
  • Compile Sustainability metrics.
