This position is full-time, following a first shift schedule, 40 hours per week, and scheduled Monday - Friday following a hybrid work schedule. This position is in the Water Planning and Management Division, Municipal Wastewater Program. As an Environmental Analyst 1 in this Division, you will be responsible for assisting with the management of State and Federal databases with the overarching mission of water pollution control in accordance with Federal and State laws: Clean Water Act, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Sewage-Right-to-Know (SRTK) requirements. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is charged with conserving, improving and protecting the natural resources and the environment of the state of Connecticut as well as making cheaper, cleaner and more reliable energy available for the people and businesses of the state. The agency is also committed to playing a positive role in rebuilding Connecticut’s economy and creating jobs – and to fostering a sustainable and prosperous economic future for the state. Within the Bureau of Water Protection & Land Reuse, the Water Planning and Management Division (WPMD) is responsible for implementing requirements of the federal Clean Water Act and state statutes and regulations to protect water quality and habitat, ensure public health and safety, maintain water quantity, and oversee and manage critical wastewater and dam infrastructure. The Municipal Wastewater section handles all aspects of interactions between municipalities and DEEP regarding wastewater conveyance and treatment. From planning the needed infrastructure, through design and construction oversight, to operation, maintenance, and permitting; the Municipal Wastewater section provides holistic guidance, support, and regulatory oversight related to wastewater at the municipal level.
