The State of Connecticut, Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is seeking an Environmental Analyst 2 to join the Bureau of Materials Management & Compliance Assurance's (MMCA) Emergency Response & Spill Prevention Division (ERSPD) in Hartford, CT. This position is within the ERSPD Prevention, Enforcement and Corrective Action’s, Licensing & Enforcement Unit. This is a 35-hour per week, first shift, full-time position with a flexible schedule available subject to approval, working Monday to Friday. A hybrid/telework option is also available. The role will focus on supporting the Release-Based Cleanup Regulations (RBCRs), approving Permitted Environmental Professional (PEP) courses and applications, providing public access to PEP lists, and approving General Permit (GP) applications for PEPs. Responsibilities also include auditing submittals for emergent reportable releases (ERRs) to ensure compliant cleanup, minimizing environmental damage and public exposure to toxic hazards, and taking office-based enforcement actions. This involves drafting and issuing enforcement actions, tracking actions to completion, researching technical responses, creating key metrics, closing out enforcement actions, assisting with electronic recordkeeping, and performing other related duties.
