About The Position

Physical Intelligence is bringing general-purpose AI into the physical world by developing foundation models and learning algorithms for robots and other physically actuated devices. The Environment team supports research and production operations by building and maintaining physical work spaces and keeping them supplied so work runs on schedule across every shift. The team includes coordinators, shift specialists, and contractors who flex with demand.

The Environment Manager leads a full-time hourly team across multiple shifts and manages contractors who flex with demand. The role supports hands-on research and production work and helps keep operations running on schedule.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience managing hourly frontline teams in warehouse, fulfillment, retail, production, events, or facilities.
• Experience with California wage and hour rules, including breaks, meal periods, and overtime.
• Experience hiring and managing performance, including difficult conversations.
• Experience managing contractors or temporary staff.
• Comfort working on the floor and adjusting hours to reach every shift.

Nice To Haves

• Experience running a multi-shift or 24/7 operation.
• Experience in film, television, theater, or event production, or in an R&D or production environment where requirements change weekly.
• Experience setting purchasing budgets and spending guidelines for a team.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, and manage an hourly team across multiple shifts.
• Give regular feedback and conduct performance conversations.
• Own team schedules, time cards, breaks, and overtime in California.
• Plan weekly staffing and capacity, and cover call-outs and paid time off.
• Run contractor trials and manage vendor relationships.
• Partner with research and production leads to resolve blockers and set priorities.
• Work on the floor and adjust hours to reach every shift.
