About The Position

Hoyle Tanner is hiring an Entry Level Highway Engineer for its Ground Transportation Division, based in the Manchester, New Hampshire office. The role joins a team of highway design professionals working to build lasting client relationships and deliver creative, cost-effective, quality solutions that enhance the communities where they work and live. The engineer will contribute to state and municipal highway projects, completing assignments with direction from a Project Engineer or Project Manager. The position may include site visits, inspections, meetings, construction observation, and limited project administration. The role also emphasizes teamwork across disciplines, clear communication, and ongoing professional learning.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
0–2 years of relevant experience.
Ability to obtain EIT/EI status if not already held.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree preferred.
EIT/EI preferred.

Responsibilities

Design and prepare calculations, plans, and specifications for state and municipal highway projects.
Complete assignments with direction from the Project Engineer or Project Manager.
Work as part of an integrated, multidisciplinary team to solve technical challenges.
Use software and other tools to develop designs and organize work.
Gather, research, and maintain engineering records, including tests, drawings, and field data.
May attend inspections, site visits, and meetings with clients and contractors for highway projects under construction.
May be responsible for construction observation and limited administration.
Read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
Demonstrate strong writing and communication skills.
Increase knowledge through continuous learning within and outside the organization, including pursuit of an advanced engineering degree and/or certification.
