Enterprise Systems Director

Blueland•New York, NY
•$175,000 - $195,000

About The Position

Blueland is seeking its first dedicated Enterprise Systems and IT leader to build the technology foundation for the company’s next stage of growth. Reporting to the CFO, the Director will own enterprise systems and day-to-day IT operations, partnering with Finance, Operations, Data & Analytics, and other teams to improve business processes, manage the systems roadmap, and provide employees with reliable, secure, and effective technology. This is a hands-on builder role that combines setting direction with personally executing routine systems and IT work. The role will initially rely on managed service providers and other external partners for specialized support, and will help determine the resources needed as the function scales. The Director will own NetSuite and its enhancement roadmap, coordinate implementations and integrations, manage the enterprise systems project pipeline, and oversee day-to-day employee IT support. The role will also manage technology vendors and core application governance, including access, licensing, documentation, change management, security coordination, and opportunities to use automation and AI. The position requires creating structure and repeatable processes in a growing organization without a large internal team.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in enterprise systems, business applications, ERP, IT/business technology, or a related field.
  • Strong hands-on NetSuite experience, ideally supporting Finance and Operations in a growing organization.
  • Strong understanding of order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, inventory, fulfillment, and financial close processes.
  • Experience administering enterprise applications and troubleshooting day-to-day systems issues.
  • Experience managing NetSuite consultants, managed service providers, technology vendors, and other external technical resources.
  • Experience leading systems implementations and integrations from requirements through go-live and ongoing optimization.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage competing systems priorities.
  • Experience using AI and automation tools to improve business processes, systems administration, or employee productivity, and interest in staying current as these capabilities evolve.
  • Working knowledge of IT fundamentals, including user provisioning, identity and access management, endpoint/device management, SaaS administration, and IT support processes.
  • Strong business judgment and ability to distinguish problems requiring technology investment from those better addressed through process changes.
  • Ability to communicate between business and technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in consumer products, retail, e-commerce, or another omnichannel environment is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce, EDI, 3PL/fulfillment, and related integrations is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own NetSuite as the business systems owner and primary contact for the NetSuite managed service provider.
  • Work with Finance and Operations to understand processes, identify pain points, and translate requirements into scalable NetSuite solutions.
  • Execute and prioritize the NetSuite enhancement roadmap, including configuration, workflows, reporting, integrations, and process improvements.
  • Handle routine NetSuite administration and troubleshooting, escalating complex technical work to external partners as appropriate.
  • Manage NetSuite MSP work, including requirements, scope, timeline, cost, testing, and delivery quality.
  • Own NetSuite integrations with ecommerce, EDI, 3PL/fulfillment, and other enterprise applications.
  • Maintain governance over NetSuite roles, permissions, configurations, workflows, and system changes.
  • Partner with Data & Analytics to implement master data governance standards across enterprise systems.
  • Lead testing, documentation, training, and change management for significant system enhancements.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes, strengthen controls, and improve data quality across Finance and Operations.
  • Own the enterprise systems project pipeline from business need through implementation and ongoing optimization.
  • Establish and operate a consistent intake and prioritization process for systems requests.
  • Work with functional leaders to define business problems, requirements, expected value, resource needs, and recommended solutions.
  • Maintain the enterprise systems roadmap and communicate priorities, status, dependencies, risks, costs, and resource constraints.
  • Lead systems implementations, coordinating business owners, vendors, and other resources.
  • Ensure projects have clear requirements, ownership, testing, training, documentation, and post-launch support.
  • Drive adoption after implementation and assess whether solutions deliver intended business outcomes.
  • Evaluate opportunities to simplify the technology stack, improve platforms, and automate manual work.
  • Serve as the primary internal owner and hands-on contact for employee IT needs; resolve routine requests and tickets and escalate specialized issues as needed.
  • Build a scalable IT ticketing and support process with service expectations, documentation, escalation paths, and recurring issue analysis.
  • Manage employee technology onboarding and offboarding with People, including laptops, accounts, software access, and permissions.
  • Provision and remove user access across core enterprise applications and maintain documentation of users, systems, devices, licenses, and access.
  • Coordinate laptop and device procurement, setup, replacement, and lifecycle management.
  • Troubleshoot common employee technology and application issues and coordinate resolution of more complex issues with external partners.
  • Develop repeatable processes and self-service documentation to reduce recurring support needs.
  • Own relationships with the IT MSP, NetSuite MSP, and other enterprise technology vendors, and hold partners accountable for performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage technology vendors through evaluation, onboarding, contracting, implementation, performance review, renewal, and offboarding.
  • Maintain a centralized inventory of technology vendors, systems, business owners, licenses, contracts, costs, and renewal dates.
  • Partner with Finance to manage technology spend and identify opportunities to consolidate tools, remove unused licenses, and improve ROI.
  • Coordinate with external cybersecurity and infrastructure partners on security and technology standards.
  • Ensure vendors are incorporated into onboarding, offboarding, access management, and security processes.
  • Serve as internal owner or governance lead for core enterprise applications; administer applications directly where appropriate and establish business and technical ownership.
  • Manage application user access, permissions, licensing, and basic configuration.
  • Establish documentation and change-management standards for critical systems.
  • Evaluate systems and functionality based on business need, integrations, security, scalability, and total cost of ownership.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to use automation and AI in enterprise platforms and business processes to improve productivity and user experience and reduce manual work.
