About The Position

The Enterprise Strategic Projects - Project Manager III role is a remote position based in California, requiring extensive knowledge of the EPMO function and department processes. This role partners with the VP of EPMO to develop standards, processes, and tools for effective project scheduling and quality target management. The Project Manager III will establish data collection and reporting processes to capture key project metrics and will be responsible for reporting on the EPMO project portfolio. This role provides managerial oversight, guidance, and direction for the staff and operations within this functional area. Key responsibilities include monitoring project scope, costs, schedules, staffing, communications, external vendors, and contractual deliverables. The Project Manager III will lead high-visibility projects/programs with minimal day-to-day guidance from the VP of EPMO, managing the planning, organizing, and staffing of assigned resources to deliver strategic initiatives and approved projects enterprise-wide, on time and within budget. This role directs assigned teams to fulfill approved organizational strategic projects, utilizing appropriate project delivery methodologies (e.g., waterfall, agile) and ensuring adherence. Project deliverables involve scope definition, planning, management, status reporting, risk/mitigation, and collaboration with leaders and subject matter experts. The Project Manager III is responsible for tight scope management and keeping all stakeholders informed of status, risks, and issues. This role is authorized to take reasonable actions consistent with cost-effective practices and Nuvision Federal Credit Union policies. The Project Manager III is expected to lead project team members, including subject matter experts and other assigned resources, and provide guidance, support, and coaching to other Project Managers on the team. The role also involves indirect supervision of external resources such as contract talent, programmers, and consultants.

Requirements

5-8 years of experience in managing complex medium-large scale programs/projects involving multiple cross functional disciplines and/or geographical regions.
Extensive experience in delivering projects through the full project life cycle.
Must have experiences in operational efficiency initiatives.
Experience in integrated business applications solutions development, testing and implementation
Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality
Comprehensive knowledge of resource management planning and execution methodologies.
Strong demonstrated knowledge of quality planning, quality control and quality improvement models and techniques.
Strong knowledge of delivery systems and process interdependencies and connectivity of Retail channels (branches, call center, digital), Operations, Lending, Accounting/Finance, Marketing and Training
A thorough understanding of operations, business processes, systems development lifecycle, project/organization change management
Strong project management skills and understanding of project planning techniques and methodologies.
Ability to produce detailed project plans, project dependencies, resource plans and costs estimates
Excellent communication skills, both written and orally.

Responsibilities

Portfolio Management – Partner with VP of EPMO to monitor and lead enterprise projects portfolio
Establish project performance data, gather information and report to leadership team and ELT
Continuously review EPMO standards/methodology and improvise to accommodate enterprise dynamics
Guide day-to-day activities of the department and assigned EPMO team members
Be advocate for EPMO across the organization
Planning/Organizing – Determining what needs to happen to ensure the project is successful
Create project scope/charter in collaboration with project owner
Identify vendor needs/deliverables
Develop a detailed project plan/schedule and milestones which identifies and sequences activities needed to successfully complete the project
In collaboration with project owner, determine resources (personnel, tools, facilities, hardware and software), and processes required to complete the project
Ensure resource availability and allocation
Coordinate internal resources and third-party vendors for execution of project
Ensure all project team members clearly understand their role/responsibilities and deliverables
Assess project dependencies/impacts with other projects in the portfolio
Facilitate a formal project kick-off in collaboration with the Project owner establish business benefits realization plan to monitor and report on business benefits of the project
Establish Training plan for all impacted teams within the organization
Establish the internal/external communication plan of the project
Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate departments assigned to the project
Manage shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
Prepare budget based on scope of work and resource requirements
Provide oversight to ensure the overall project is aligned to and directly supports the Credit Union’s strategic objectives

Coordinate project activities across organizational function
Managing project team including vendors that provide project related services or software functionality

Project Delivery and Reporting
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and at the required level of quality
Manage the delivery of assigned strategic initiatives, and/or “approved” large Enterprise projects (multiple concurrent projects) according to the credit union’s standard Project Management methodology
Ensure project scope is managed throughout the project lifecycle
Report and escalate risks to management as needed
Oversee all project related communication including information reports, timelines, meeting presentations, minutes and agendas
Administer Credit Union human resource policies in a consistent manner throughout the department.
Manage, coach, mentor, and motivate staff through one-on-one meetings, performance management, disciplinary action, development and delegation.
Participates in the recruitment and selection of staff and recommending promotions and transfers.
Address performance issues through staff counseling and administering appropriate disciplinary action.
Assist with determining and establishing department and employee goals and monitor individual and department progress toward goal attainment.

Establish practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature PMO capabilities for the organization
Identify and develop trusted adviser relationship with project and program stakeholders, sponsors and university stakeholders
Collaborates with internal business partners to ensure PMO supports defined member experience and optimize business processes. Identifies and addresses any challenges/issues and assists the Project Managers with escalated items as needed.
