About The Position

We currently have an opening for an Enterprise Desktop Engineer I. This role involves creating and maintaining operating system images, software deployment packages, and managing enterprise patch management. The engineer will also monitor anti-virus, provide Tier III support, mentor other teams, and design/document best practice processes for automated operating systems and applications. Functions as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for project needs and end-user requirements, translating these into actionable items. Proactively tracks and analyzes device performance, identifies problem areas, and delivers solutions to enhance end-user service quality. Shares knowledge, creates knowledgebase articles, and establishes best practices. Participates in hardware standards selection and assists with software license reconciliation. Demonstrates competence in prioritizing user issues and resolving them within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Maintains an ever-increasing level of proficiency in relevant technologies and demonstrates the ability to manage time and resources effectively. Identifies opportunities for training to improve productivity. Participates in on-call duties and provides end-user support during off-hours, holidays, and weekends. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with management, co-workers, and end users. Must be able to perform the professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Associates Degree or equivalent minimum of 2 year of experience in field
  • Experience with Microsoft Operating Systems
  • Less than 1 year experience with Microsoft Operating Systems

Nice To Haves

  • Less than 1 year experience with McAfee, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit preferred
  • Less than 1 year experience with Powershell, Group Policy, USMT, MDOP and Roaming Profiles preferred
  • Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager certification within 180 Days

Responsibilities

  • Creates and maintains operating system images for desktops, laptops, tablets and handheld devices including emerging technologies.
  • Creates and maintains software deployment packages for implementation using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager and Wise Package Studio.
  • Manages enterprise patch management using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager and Microsoft Server Update Services.
  • Performs analysis and implements software vendor and operating system upgrades and patches.
  • Monitors Enterprise anti-virus and proactively addresses reported issues.
  • Provides Tier III support to end users, Service Desk and Desktop Support teams providing both resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Mentors Service Desk and Desktop Support teams.
  • Design, document and implement best practice processes to delivery consistent automated operating systems and applications to the Hospital.
  • Functions as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for project needs and the needs of the end user.
  • Translates those needs into documentation and actionable items to deliver the required solution.
  • Proactively tracks and analyses the performance of the devices, identifies device problem areas, and delivers solutions to enhance the quality of service for the end users.
  • Shares knowledge, creates knowledgebase articles, creates best practices and shares with the HITS group.
  • Participates in the Hardware Standards selection processes; helping to select and maintain the current hardware, software and peripherals.
  • Assists in Hospital software license reconciliation on a recurring basis.
  • Demonstrates competence in prioritizing user issues and resolving within Hospital defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Maintains an ever increasing level of proficiency in hardware, software, networking and other technologies related to the ITS department.
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage time and resources in the best interest of the Hospital.
  • Identifies opportunities to see where training needs would improve productivity within the department or within the Hospital.
  • Participates in on-call and provides end user support during off hours, holidays and weekends.
