About The Position

Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking enthusiastic and capable Enrolled Nurses to join our growing Emergency Department on a Casual basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic, high-acuity environment where no two days are the same. As part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you'll play a vital role in delivering safe, compassionate and patient-centred care to a diverse range of patients while building your emergency nursing skills and experience. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

Requirements

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as an Enrolled Nurse.
  • Previous Emergency Department experience, or experience within a high-acuity, fast-paced hospital setting.
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills within your scope of practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with patients, families and colleagues.
  • The ability to remain calm, organised and effective in a rapidly changing environment.
  • A commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centred care.
  • Demonstrated understanding of patient safety, infection control and clinical governance principles.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of casual shifts across a 24/7 service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care within your scope of practice.
  • Assist with patient assessments, observations and monitoring.
  • Support the delivery of timely care to patients with a wide range of presentations.
  • Collaborate with Registered Nurses, medical officers and the multidisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes.
  • Assist with patient flow, transfers and discharge processes.
  • Advocate for patients and support their physical, emotional and wellbeing needs.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to all relevant policies and standards.
  • Contribute to a safe environment through infection prevention, risk management and quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in ongoing learning and professional development opportunities.
