About The Position

Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking an experienced and compassionate Enrolled Nurse to join our Patient Care – Inpatient Unit in a Part Time 12-month maximum term parental leave cover, working 32 hours per week. This position will involve working 24/7 rotating rostered shifts including early, late, night and weekend shifts. Based at our Springfield campus, this position is a part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — recently opened in 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

Requirements

  • Current Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) registration as an Enrolled Nurse (no restrictions)
  • Demonstrated clinical nursing experience, ideally within acute care or a related specialty
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Commitment to delivering safe, patient-centred care and achieving positive clinical outcomes
  • Sound clinical assessment and problem-solving skills within scope of practice
  • Understanding of quality, safety and infection prevention principles
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning
  • Availability to work a rotating roster across a 24/7 service as required

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care within your scope of practice under the direction of a Registered Nurse
  • Conduct patient observations, assessments and nursing interventions, escalating concerns as required
  • Support patients through treatment, procedures and recovery
  • Assist with care planning, discharge planning and health education activities
  • Advocate for patients and families, ensuring they are informed and supported throughout their care
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to quality and safety initiatives
  • Collaborate effectively with medical, nursing and allied health professionals to achieve positive patient outcomes
  • Contribute to a positive team culture and support the learning and development of students and new staff
